It has been a couple months since Jason's accident totaling his truck. (was NOT his fault) I have felt so bad for him for awhile now. Both my sons have been looking for jobs and nothing. Noone is hiring and when they do, it seems they are hiring people in their 30's and 40's. I understand the economy is tough, but my kids are frustrated because they can't even get into McDonald's. They have never had a job before and I am sure it don't help but they just need a break LOL
Jason has been so down in the dumps. His truck was totalled and with no job he has no way of paying for transportation. I, who work 2 jobs already just to make ends meet, cannot help him. I am in so much financial trouble, it's not even funny. We have been struggling since Duane messed up his hand and can't work. It's been several years, we are still fighting disability, which could take another year. Robbing peter to pay paul has caught up with me. I feel like shit really, my parents have always been there for me. When will I be able to be there for my kids when they really need help. It's so hard to look at your son and say, I am so sorry I can't help you. He understands, most of the time we are having sandwiches for dinner because that's all we can afford right now. So he doesn't blame me but I blame myself. It breaks my heart to see him so down and not a damn thing I can do about it.
My Mom has stepped in and helped him. She is helping him get another vehicle. Can always count on 'Ma'. God knows I have most of my life. Someday, I will be a big girl and be able to do things on my own. Maybe gotta hit bottom first but it will happen someday. So Mom said she would help Jas get another vehicle. So we started hunting. Most important thing to me was the size of the vehicle. No more s-10 type vehicles. Jason is 6' 4'' So he really needs a bigger vehicle anyways. He is a 'truck' kid. He has always loved trucks and if he can't have a 'go fast' car then it has to be a truck. So, I told him it had to be a 'Chevy'. So it was narrowed down to a Chevy truck. He wants a 4x4 of course. LOL He and his friends like to go off roading, even though there is little places around here to do that, they have 'a' place to go. So we went to www.craigslist.com and searched for Chevy 4x4, he had 1800 to spend. Not going to find much, but it was definetly better then 700 like he thought he would have when he got rid of his truck. I found several that seemed quite good. I printed them out and we started calling. I love suburbans, his dad and I had them for years, they were my favorite thing to drive, other then my cavalier z24. Loved that car, it was fast! LOL! Anyways, I found an 89 Chevy Suburban 4x4 for $1800. Oh it looked nice, Jason thought it was cool too. We called for 3 days, he never answered. What I liked was it came with a 1yr old 'crate' motor. Which means it came from the GMC dealer, not just some junk yard engine. So my hope was he would have a good running vehicle. Also had a 1 yr old new trans. Great!! I was excited, just gotta get ahold of this guy before he sells it. Finally after the weekend was over, I called him Monday morning and he was there. We went after Jason got home from school and looked at it. Oh it was so nice. Interior looked like new. I couldn't believe it was an 89. You could tell it had some bondo but whatever, I know how to bondo too so if it falls off, we can fix it LOL Jason "loved it"!! We bought it for $1600. Duane said 'it's a steal'. Jason hasn't shown it to his Dad yet, but as soon as he can see him again, he will. He is excited to see what his Dad thinks. It was sold by the 2nd owner. Came with original sticker from when it was first bought. First thing I noticed was 12 m.p.g. I was like holy crap, when it was new, it only got 12 miles to a gallon. Can't imagine it will even get 8, it has a cherry bomb in the exhaust so its 'cool' loud but ganna be a fuel guzzler. I just hope all we have to do is fuel it, not fix alot!! Here are a couple pictures of Jason's new ride!!
Yep it sure is big!! But it's very nice!! Very little rust and when ya start the engine. Vrooom Vroom!! Sounds wonderful too!! I think we did good Jas!! Mom sure knows how to pick em! Well, most of the time. I am a pretty smart cookie sometimes!!
Hope you really love your new truck Jason. I am so happy to see that wonderful smile on your face once again. I am thankful Ma was able to help you out and make your dream come true. I am very proud of you always and hope you have alot of fun with this truck. Good clean fun!! LOL! Just remember....accidents happen, I know it's a hard lesson but it will make you a better driver because you will be more aware. I know none of them were your fault, but just goes to show, alot of ahole's get licenses. Just have to watch out for them before they rear end ya. Although, if ya get rear ended now, I believe you will have less damage then them. They will see you and hopefully avoid you simply because your much bigger then they are now LOL Love you Babe!! Have fun and it's wonderful knowing how happy you are, things will work out. Just need patience!
